3d wood cutting board plans8/25/2023 ![]() Of course, they were covered in wax and not true to the dimension on the label, so I spent some time on the table saw getting them all as uniform as possible. So, I went to my local wood shop and paid far too much for some 1.5″x1.5″ turning stock of Rosewood, Marblewood, and Birdseye Maple. I saw the importance of finding 3 unique wood grains to make this design work well. Fisher’s Shop posted a fantastic how-to video a few years back with some interesting designs, and provided the necessary details to create one of my own (downloadable patterns), so I went with a tumbling block design. ![]() Not content with the more traditional cutting board designs, I challenged myself to create a more advanced 3D design. The whole project was completed over 2 weekends – about 10 hours total with ample time in between tasks for drying. So, to make it official, I set out to create my first cutting board. In grade school I made a wooden clipboard using similar techniques, but I guess that doesn’t qualify. I supposed it is some kind of “right of passage” for woodworkers. I recently read that one cannot be considered a “true woodworker” until one has created a cutting board.
